We have the following workshops coming up:
Letters & Textures - Montreal (Register)
When: 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. September 14th, 2019
Where: Scriven 2019 Montreal Pen Show
Join Azizah Asgarali (@GourmetPens) and Salman Khattak (@TorontoPenCompany) to explore the variety of modern styles of calligraphy, lettering, and textures that can be produced with a Pilot Parallel Pen modified to write like a Folded Pen. The Folded Pen is a type of ruling pen, which allow users to create thick and thin lines by adjusting one’s angle. You will learn several techniques to get the most out of your pen and you will follow along with demonstrations on angles, pressures, and speed, textures, letter play, and layout.
All supplies will be provided (and are yours to take home). No experience is required. Show up with an enthusiasm to explore a different way to enjoy pens and inks! If you love to work in your own notebooks, feel free to bring a suitable fountain pen-friendly notebook of your own to practice in (Tomoe River, Rhodia).

Copperplate Masterclass - (Closed)

This COPPERPLATE MASTERCLASS is based on Salman's system for learning the Copperplate script. There will be 6 classes over a 12 week period and each class will take place every 2 weeks from April - June. Make up classes will be available so that you can sign up as late as the 3rd class in (May 10th).
The course will also have an online component with instructional videos and a place to submit your homework for feedback and correction.
Each class builds up on the previous lessons. By the end of the course, the students will develop a good understanding of the underlying structure of both minuscule and majuscule letters and will be skilled enough to execute the script to a high degree of accuracy.
This class is limited to 10 students.
